Over the past few days we have finally been able to experience WINTER. The weather has been very mild for us - save for a cold snap in November and another freeze over X-mas holidays.
While I was walking outside today, all snuggled in my finest Canadian gear, I thought about the post I did in November.
Here it is, again, for all to read:

Brrr
Current Music: Depeche Mode "Martyr For Love" (single)
It is very cold outside. The word, "Deep Freeze" does not describe the chill I felt as I left the house this AM to head to work. As soon as I stepped outside, I could feel the cold air settle on me. My ears automatically felt the brace of cold wind. My hands, although covered in warm woolly mitts, felt like ice blocks. My feet, brrr, my feet, they are still defrosting!
And, this my dear friends, is only the end of November. We have not officially hit winter yet. The paragraph above was only describing -15 celsius weather. Our weather network has indicated that by Monday the temperature will be around -30 celsius. I don't know if that includes the wind chill. The wind chill can decrease the temperature quite a bit. All of that cold air being howled around you during a windy day is not fun . . .
This is one thing I have noticed about us Canadians. We love to complain about the cold weather. (this post being a point in case) We brag about our winter chinooks. We rub our hands with glee when a snow storm is about to swirl around us. We proudly ram a toque onto our head and hussle into bulky jackets and brave the cold. Sure, the toques make our hair frizzy and the jackets are very sexless . . . but we are Canadian, and watch us conquer the frozen tundra of the North!
To quote Marns, "Bring it on!"

Thanks for all of the comments regarding the Canadian flag. It appears that the Husky Truck Stop got all of our bad vibes, for look at what I saw today:

This isn't a great shot, but look at what else I saw today:

Can you believe it: a Hummer Limousine. It is too bad I didn't have time to get the ol' finger salute in there!
Ms Nanook: these photos were taken with my "crackberry" - Palm Treo. Pretty good for a camera phone, huh?

A Sad Flag
I snapped this photo on my way home from work today:

For some reason, it made me feel sad.
Oh, Coffee & Pingcat took this quiz & I followed suit. It looks like I am Lime Green:

Your dominant hue is green. You're logical and steadfast, focused on figuring life out and doing what makes sense. You value being trusted because you know you're taking the time to figure things out and everyone should just follow you. Your saturation level is higher than average - You know what you want, but sometimes know not to tell everyone. You value accomplishments and know you can get the job done, so don't be afraid to run out and make things happen. Your outlook on life is brighter than most people's. You like the idea of influencing things for the better and find hope in situations where others might give up. You're not exactly a bouncy sunshine but things in your world generally look up. |
