Hodge Podge Part Deux

Here are some pics from my Christmas camera, that Sean carries with him everywhere he goes (gosh, I am getting heaps of mileage out of teasing Sean about this!!)

Last night we went to the annual new car show at the stampede grounds. We went with Marns & Lester. Sean & Marns wanted to check out the new Jeep (to see how different it is from our '06 Jeep), I wanted to check out the mini's, & Lester was on the prowl for a new vehicle...

This concept truck was GYNORMOUS! I think our entire tent trailer would fit inside the cab of the truck:So much for fuel efficient vehicles, huh?

Lester fell in love with the high-end mini Cooper S convertible, whereas I made up my mind to purchase a mini-cooper (just a plain ol' mini cooper) in the fall . . . Sean, I could tell, was relieved that I decided on a mini over a Toyota Yaris!

After the new car show, we went out for Italian food to celebrate Marns' bday. The girls are continuing the celebration this weekend, with a group outing to Canmore and an overnight stay at a posh condo that is owned by Lester's sister-in-law's family. It is too bad that I am unable to join everyone for the remainder of the festivities - for tonight we are celebrating Meghann's bday.

Here are a few pics from last Friday of Josh trying out one of our new chairs:

It is too bad we received the wrong table top (we wanted birch, but we got OAK - and we do not like oak at all), and one of the chairs was damaged . . . but we LOVE the chairs, as does Josh... Once we get the new table top and replace the one chair, it will all be PERFECT!

Ok, Sean & I have a few errands to run, prior to his flight tonight to Salmon Arm, so I had best get ready . . .

Toodles,

Ping Pong

So, I took a break from working on economic projections for our year end annual report to get my A$$ whupped by a 10 year old.

We have a ping pong table at our office. I am basically the low man on the totem pole when it comes to playing ping-pong (Forest Gump I AIN'T). Our Geologist, Kevin, brought his 10 year old into the office today.

We all figured that my ping-pong skills equated to that of a 10 year old... So, I decided to take on Mitchell for what I hoped to be an "easy" game of ping-pong. Although the game was close - I still get whupped! (& I think I dislocated my left index finger during the tournament - who told me that ping-pong was a close contact sport??)

Ok, maybe I had better concentrate on something I can do . . . anyone in for a game of chinese checkers??

A note for those who really know me - *yup*, I let the little tyke win!

"Woke up this morning, put on my slippers
Walked in the kitchen and died
And oh, what a feelin' when my soul went through the ceiling
And on up into heaven I did rise"
-John Prine

I don't know why those lyrics are running through my head. Maybe because it is nearing the anniversary of my Dad's death. I have been percolating on a post about my Dad, which I want to write someday soon. Today is not the day.

We had a great weekend. From Friday night wine and cheese at our place, to Saturday night dinner & a movie with Marns and Lester to Sunday afternoon painting session at Tara's place. (and I did work about 5 hours in the office this weekend, and that has really put me in a "go get 'em" mood for the rest of the work week!)

Well, I am going to go fold laundry.

Have a good week, everybody!

"Please don't bury me down in the cold, cold ground
No, I druther have them cut me up and pass me all around
Throw my brain in a hurricane and the blind can have my eyes
And the deaf can take both my ears if they don't mind the size

Give my stomache to Milwaukee if they run out of beer
Put my socks in a cedar box, just get them out of here
Venus de Milo can have my arms, look out, I've got your nose
Sell my heart to the junk man and give my love to rose"
