snow shoeing

Originally uploaded by canagal.
This past Sunday we went and snow shoe'd what we think was the saw mill creek path.

(we = me, Marns (in the photo all darth vader'd up) and Sean)

Our group of snow shoers could have been bigger, but, alas, Reid & Skybar were hung over and Doug & Shauna *had* to watch the NFL play-offs. (Marns sacrificed the first game to go snow-shoeing with us).

Again, we had a great time. But, really, how can a day in the great outdoors not be a great time? It is much better than hanging out at home and being a couch potatoe!

I think the funniest part of our hike was when Marns decided to go running down the trail.

There is a really nice photo of me and Sean that I am going to print and send off to our respective Mom's. It shows us in our snow shoeing garb with the mountains behind us. I have the photo posted on our flickr site, if you are interested in checking it out.

The view of the mountains at one point during out hike was breath-taking, unfortunately the sky was a washed out grey colour, so the photos didn't turn out as good as they could have.

In other CG news . . .

. . .

well, um, there is no other news. I am over my drug addiction and so y'all can stop calling me Margot or Lindsay L.

Work is same/same. I have to say though, meetings really pick my butt. I always feel like you get more accomplished doing the job over talking about how the job should be done.

Oh!

Sean is being sent for SIM training in the spring to TX. He is going to book a few extra days off, so I will join him in the USA after his SIM training is done. A mini-holiday is always welcomed.

Speaking about mini-holidays - we are also going to "La Range, SK" in Feb with Marns & Lester. I am looking forward to a week of snow-mobiling and ice - fishing.

Then, in April/May, during spring - break up and after all of the stock exchange filings are done (which means I can take a break from work), Sean & I are doing our long awaited trip to the Smithsonian. Geeks that we are, we are giddy with the thought of spending a week at Smithsonian!

Of course, I can not forget to mention that my Aunt Riky and my Uncle Andre are coming from NL at the end of May/beginning of June for a visit. I am really excited about seeing them. We had a lot of fun together in October when I was in Holland. They will be in Calgary for a few days before they head out to the island to visit the remainder of the family. Sean & I will also travel to the island a few days after my aunt and uncle begin their trip west. That way we can spend time with the entire family out on the island. Good times lay ahead!
Ok, I need to get some yoghurt in ma belly.

Toodles!

Yeah so where is "La Range, SK"?
and I think it is quite cute that you call NL "the island".

Maybe I should find something cute for where my Finnlaws live....

You're going to La Ronge? La Ronge? Yikes. Well, actually, it's beautiful.

Coffee: actually I call NL "NL" My family lives on Vancouver Island, which I refer to as the island. Out of my heaps of aunts & uncles (my dad had/has 14 siblings & my Mom 6), only 3 uncles live in Canada, the remainder are in Holland.

Jetboy: Yup, we are heading to Northern SK with Marns and Lester. It *does* sound like a strange holiday, especially for a globe trotter like you. Believe it or not, I have never really been to SK (save the times I head to Lloydminster for work)

Smitsonian like in Smitsonian, Washington DC? I'll be in DC from the 17th of April up and with the 19th for my work. Let's meet!

When I started my current job, a hundred years ago, I was stationed in Prince Albert, SK.

I got to go The Pas, Flin Flon, Lac la Ronge. All the glamorous places. In the bush all around there. Beautiful, but hostile.

Outside of PA, take HWY 969 up to La Ronge. I almost died there. Seriously. Montreal Lake. HWY disappeared and I crashed into a snow bank, which was, at the time, HWY 969. I survived the night. And Thank Jennifer Love Hewitt, I had a subway sandwich with me.

Oh, and I almost got mauled by a black bear. And hit a moose, almost. Ah, interesting times.

'tijn, unfortunately, we can not get time off during the weekend you are in DC. Damn!!

Jetboy: that must have been the only time you were happy to have a subway sandwich . . . sorry to hear about the bear mauling . . . are you talking about a real bear or the big hairy guys that are called "bears"?
